So we're not quite sure what to make of this. B's bloodwork from this morning showed that his total bilirubin has gone up to 10 (from 9.5), but his direct bilirubin has gone down slightly. They assured us that this was the part they were most concerned with. We talked to the doctors to see if surgery was still on the table, and they said "no". Of course we know how quickly things can change around here, so we're not taking anything for granted. We will simply wait and see what the ultrasound and blood work from tomorrow show!
B's doing good and resting right now, and I'm about to join him in a minute!
I know we've mentioned that Monday was a possibility for going home, but we both strongly doubt it. There is still so much we have to do before leaving here. We must take the medication class, get diabetes information in case he has to continue treatments at home, have the ultrasound done, read, and reviewed by the doctors, get the penicillin shots from the pharmacy to take home with us, find out what kind of follow up we need from the cholectomy reversal, and see the occupational therapist. I have serious doubts that this can all be done, and we will be sent home tomorrow. Especially with the numbers being inconsistent. But only time will tell.
And just a sidebar for those of you that have been checking in to make sure I'm doing okay. Yes, I am eating just fine. The first couple of days I had to be reminded by mom or grandma to get something. Usually it took someone physically walking me to the cafeteria. Now I'm leaving the room on my own when I'm hungry. Yes, I'm a big girl at 29, hee hee!
I also ended up going to that yoga class yesterday, and then went again today. It felt good to finally get out of the hospital and move my body. I walked both days as it was only about a mile away. After not leaving the hospital for over a week, it was nice to sweat and get the blood flowing again!
Enough about me. B is doing well today. He's pretty wiped out as he has been spending more time walking and moving as the days pass. He's eating pretty well and looking forward to a dinner from California Pizza Kitchen from dad tonight. He seems to be getting stronger by the day, and his body really has been recovering remarkably well.
Thank you again to each of you who have been with us on this journey. Thank you for the thoughts, the prayers and the love. Thank you for those of you that have stopped by, and those who have shared their encouragement with phone calls and email. Thank you for the thoughtfulness; I never knew having a yummy dinner and some celeb gossip magazines could make a persons day! Thank you for our transplant support group friends who have been thinking about us and emailing, and even stopping by! We hope to be able to make the next meeting, as B should be feeling like a new man by then! Thank you, thank you! You have each helped to make this journey a bit easier in your own little way. The outpouring of love, support and encouragement has been awesome and we are truly grateful. God is very good. We've had our challenges, but we've never had to go through them alone! And for that we are truly grateful!
