Today was my most active day that I have had since getting out of the hospital. I got out of the house for awhile which was nice. Even better was what we did when we went out. We went to church this morning and then went to meet with our small group afterwards. After spending a week and a half stuck in a hospital bed and basically being homebound before and after that, it felt liberating to get out and be with other people. I felt sense of community that I have been sorely missing. We were greeted at church by a huge ear to ear smile from our pastor who we hadn't seen since I was in ICU. That was followed by many more happy greetings and hugs from people who I hadn't seen since before the surgery. The band was absolutely rocking to start the service which created an energy that carried throughout the rest of the service.
We then met with out small group for a focused study group and experienced the same sense of community on a smaller, more intimate scale. These are all people who have been by our sides every step of the way during this journey and who have made that journey possible.
I am thankful beyond words that we are part of such amazing communities both in our church and in our small group. They truly making doing life easier.
