Adjusting

The past week can pretty much be summed up in one word; Adjusting.

There is the adjustment Melissa and I are going through with not only having a new born in the house again, but also having to balance that with a VERY active 2 year old.  Of course the obvious adjustment with Elli is the feedings in the middle of the night.  So far we have been very lucky.  (That sound you hear is me knocking on wood).  Elli only gets up twice in the middle of the night to eat.  Melissa takes one, I take the other, which means we each get plenty of rest.

There are some small adjustments as well though.  Like lugging around an infant diaper bag again (and hopefully not driving 30 minutes to realize that you forgot it at home).

Braydon is adjusting to life as a big brother.  Initially, he was pretty indifferent to the whole idea, but this weekend, he is beginning to warm up to the idea.

And then there is Elliana, adjusting to life as a Schultz.  We have been acclimatizing her as best we can.  Her first full day home last Saturday, she went to her first baseball game, followed by her photo shoot on Sunday and then at least a dozen butt prints on a wide variety plates at the pottery studio.

This weekend started with Braydon's Pre School picnic, at which he made his stage debut in a couple of song and dance numbers.  All I can say about that, is that he has A LOT of personality.  From the picnic we went to a birthday party.  We intended on staying about an hour.  We left three hours later.

Not to be out done, today included church, followed by not one, but two different home visits to see family to meet Elli for the first time.

Tonight is as close to a relaxing night as we are going to get for another week plus, so we are going to take advantage as best we can.  Because these adjustments are just the beginning.

We went to get some newborn photos done with Elli today. I could tell you how it went, but the photographer can do a much better job.

A New Chapter

Today begins another chapter in our lives.

Melissa and I feel blessed and proud to introduce the newest member of our family, Elliana Christine.

Elliana was born Wednesday morning and we got to meet her for the first time today, and then bring her home.

There is a lot to say about the process and how this all happened, but right now all I can think about is how perfect and beautiful our new little girl is. There will be time for all the "how's" later. The important thing today is the who, and she has already filled our hearts with so much love and happiness in just one day.
