The Tables Have Turned

I started this blog several months ago at the urging of several members of our small group. After talking about our story so many times in our small group setting, I decided to take them up on their idea, and so this blog was born.

It has been a great way to clear my head at times and keep friends and family updated to our situation. Recently however, it has become more than that.

It all started in the hospital when the doctors were going back and forth about whether or not I was going to have to have a second surgery. One of the things I admire about my wife is her determination and perseverance. So when the doctors started wavering and not giving us straight answers, she went to find the answers on her own. When searching the usual medical websites came up empty, she started to try to find blogs of people that have gone through similar situations. And boy did she find it.

She found a couple in Texas whose story is eerily similar to ours, and felt an instant connection and draw to this family. Their names are Geoff and Erin. Geoff had to have a liver transplant 9 years ago due to PSC. He has also had the same colon surgery that I have had and is now waiting for his second liver transplant due to reccurance of PSC.

Another characteristic I admire about my wife is her ability to make friends in any situation. And so it went that she began to email Geoff's wife Erin. They immediately hit it off and began exchanging emails.

So now, I find myself checking their blog several times everyday, waiting and hoping for their post that says they got the call. This road that my wife and I have traveled, and the one that Erin and Geoff are currently on, is not an easy one. It is filled with unexpected bumps and turns that can seemingly tear you apart from the inside. But there is hope.

I know that each day I am blessed to wake up to, is a special one and I thank God that I can experience it. I pray several times everyday, thanking God for that gift. I now also pray that one day, very soon, Geoff and Erin will be experience that same feeling.

Today our friends got some unexpected and potentially scary news on their journey. We ask that each of you that pray, please keep them and their two beautiful children in your thoughts and prayers. We know we will do the same, and hope they have answers very, very soon.

Geoff and Erin, we are thinking of you, will be praying for you and the entire family, and hope some answers find their way to you soon!

To check out this very inspiring and cool couple; check out their awesome blog! They sure have found a way to add humor and live a full and inspiring life even during this journey!
