So funny, it hurts.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist posting this.

So my wife and I were getting ready to watch some TV during our last night in the hospital. Typically, I am laying down in my hospital bed and she sits in a reclining chair next to the bed. This has been our routine just about every night and has been uneventful. Until tonight.

For some reason, tonight the reclining chair went crazy. As she was trying to find the perfect angle, the back of the chair gave out and suddenly the headrest was resting on the floor and her feet were sticking up three feet off the ground. This began as a minor comedic moment that quickly snowballed into uncontrollable constant laughter as this action repeated each time she sat down.

These are normally moments that I cherish as each of us look at each others laughing so hard we can't talk. Less then two weeks after major abdominal surgery is a different story. Usual day to day movements I used to do without thinking now have to be done slowly and methodically in order to avoid pain from the cut. An all out, uncontrollable laughter like this one brings on pain that lasts far beyond the laughter.

Luckily however, the memory of this will last far beyond the pain.

I am laughing hard just thinking about that. Those are the moments you wish you could capture on video and post on YouTube! Glad you have this funny memory to share. It is a great last memory to have as your last night at TGH. SO GLAD YOU ARE GOING HOME! XOXO Gina
