Basically B's numbers are getting better. Bili is down only by .7, but the rest of his numbers are getting closer to normal as well (liver enzymes). That in itself tells the doctors that the liver is doing what it is supposed to be doing. And B has no pain. We were told with a bile leak, there is pain and irritation, and B has none of that.
As the doctor said yesterday, the u/s and nuclear med scans are not perfect tests. Because B is such a complicated case, much of what they may be seeing could be adhesions from the previous surgery. They just do not want to go in unless they have to, especially since he's already had 3 major surgeries!
So as it stands now, they will be checking his blood every day. The goal is for the numbers to continue to go down and normalize. Should that continue to happen, it shows that the liver is doing what it is supposed to do and all of that would mean the potential for no surgery.
This all makes us feel much more comfortable with holding off. We know how things change around here, but at least the urgency has gone down as opposed to yesterday. Numbers are looking good, B is looking great and moving around well, and all of these are good signs.
We'll continue to pray that the numbers go down and B does not need another surgery. But if we do end up needing surgery, hopefully we'll know something soon and can get it taken care of and get him on the road to health.
Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers! I love all the encouraging emails and voice mails and I've been sharing them with B. He is really enjoying them! It's nice to feel so overwhelmingly loved and supported each step of this journey!
Love and blessings to you all. Will update when we have something,
M

I'm glad things sound much better....
So relieved! We're hanging on your every word! We love you!!
This is better than any episode of General Hospital!! But in GH's favor, they can perform heart transplants and leave absolutely NO scars at all. I'll bet B has scars huh? Like JMC said, we're hanging on every word. Prayers are still coming your way, and apparently they seem to be working. :-) Love you both, Irene
