Another surgery tomorrow

Well we just got the results from all the testing done today.  While the ultrasound appeared normal, the nuclear med scan showed that there is a leak in the bile duct.  The only way to repair that is to have another surgery.

Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday the 15th).  If all goes to plan, the surgery should be much shorter at about 1.5 hours or so not including prep, anesthesia, and recovery time.  They plan to go through the same incision for the procedure, and should all go to plan, he should not need to spend time in the ICU before coming back to his room here.

Of course we are dealing with the news the best that we can.  I can tell B is bummed, but at least it's not the worst case scenario.  Blood seems to be flowing well and liver seems to be pumping well.  Ideally they will fix this leak and we will be back on the track to recovery.  Neither of us is thrilled about this as there are always inherent risks to surgery, but we have faith that all will be well.

Please continue with the prayers, as we know they are helping.  Please pray that the surgery is quick, successful and as minimally invasive as possible.  I know I'll be asking God to continue to hold B as he did with the last surgery and during his recovery.  I have faith that he will.

We have no idea what time surgery will be tomorrow.  We are an 'add on' case so they will fit us in when/as time permits.  Hopefully it will be early, and I will have good news to report early in the day.  I will update as soon as I have anything.

Oh, and B wanted me to mention how tired he has been and that he wants to thank all of those that have given him a call.  He apologizes that he's not called back, he's just been very tired.  He's listening to all the messages, and I know your well wishes mean the world to him.

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers!  With much love, M
