We both still have our brains stuck in fifth gear, with no signs of slowing down. I still have tons to say on the matter of our soon-to-be baby girl, but first things first. It is time to celebrate.
So the question is; How do you celebrate a week that included a successful surgery and news about finally becoming parents? Well, if you know us, this won't come as a surprise. We are going on another trip.
Our destination for this upcoming long weekend...(drum roll please)...
Kentucky.
I know, I know. It may not seem as exotic as Puerto Rico or the Bahamas, but we are looking forward to it just as much.
We are going with two other couples and will be splitting our time between the house on the lake, the boat on the lake, and swimming in the lake. (Get the point?) We will be staying pretty close to a few state parks, so I am hoping to get a little hiking in also (M will not be joining us on the hike--relaxing will be her call for those hours).
This trip has actually been planned for quite some time, and we weren't going to let a little surgery stop it from happening. Actually, this will be the second summer in a row that we will be heading north to a lake house after a surgery. Last year, it was less then a week after I had surgery, when we went to a lake house in Tennessee with M's family. I was in far worse shape on that trip than she is now. She spent the week wake boarding, wake surfing, and jumping off bridges into the water, and I spent may time between the bed and the kitchen of the house--resting.
As much as anything, we are looking forward to spending the weekend with our friends and what will surely be a weekend that we will talk about for years.

Since M is going to be lounging around- I'm going to reccommend 'happiest baby on the block' for a good read. It talks about the idea of creating a 'womb' like environment for the new little baby. Lots of swaddling, movement, white noise, etc. I think the ideas in it helped my little ones to be calm(ish) as newborns.
I second Beth. I am also a fan of Dr Sears Attachment Parenting. So excited for you both!
