I was on my phone in my office on a conference call when one of the department secretaries looked into my office with a concerned look on her face and asked if everything was OK. I said yes. Then another secretary stepped in and asked the same thing and I again said yes. This was repeated two more times by two other coworkers. Then a police officer came in and asked if everything was OK. That one got my attention.
Apparently, a phone somewhere on the complex had dialed 911 and hung up. The police did a reverse 911 look up and tracked it back to my extension. I can say with absolute certainty that I DID NOT call 911 at any point. The conference call number I dialed didn't even have a 9 or a 1 in it.
It did cause quite a bit of excitement and I was asked about it several times. Of the 100's of extensions on the complex it just had to come from mine. The person who actually did have to have 911 called to be rushed to the hospital not too long ago. What are the chances?
P.S. I did find out throughout the day that this has happened to other people, so I guess I shouldn't take it personally.
