The first is reading the Bible every day. Yell, not exactly reading the bible. More like listening. I downloaded a Daily Audio Bible Podcast onto my iPod. Everyday on the way into work in the morning, and the way home in the afternoon, I listen to the podcast. Each day of the podcast includes a passage from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. Each one is about 30 minutes, which is just about the length of my drive.
This has served me well in many ways. For one, it has served as virtual bookends for my day. It brings me focus in the morning and brings things back into perspective after a long day of work. Then, there are also of course the spiritual benefits from listening to the Bible everyday as well.
The second new thing has been running every morning. I wake up (almost) every morning early enough to get in a quick run before the heat of Florida takes effect and before I have to go to work. This of course has provided physical benefits. Somehow, with waking up early and going running, I actually have more energy during the day then usual.
These new habits, along with the euphoric high of preparing for our baby, have made for a great life during the last month. The challenge now is to stick with it.
