To protect the people involved, I will briefly and vaguely summarize some of the highlights.
- M was surprised. Someone got some great pictures of her walking in. The look on her face was priceless.
- A friend of ours wrote, played and sang an original song for M. It was hilarious and I have had the song stuck in my head all day.
- I put together a video of pictures of M from the time she was a baby all the way through last weekend. I also included messages from lots of her friends and family, many from out of town. She loved it.
- The party slowly progressed from calm, to crazy to off the charts ridiculous.
- The calm stage included about 50 people spread out throughout the house mingling and talking.
- The crazy stage had the group dwindle down to about 15 people and started with another video I had made from our trip to Lake Cumberland to "I'm On a Boat", which some how transitioned into about two hours of nonstop karaoke. There were some very good vocal performances, and many, many more memorable performances for reasons other than vocals. I busted out "Margaritaville" which fell somewhere in between.
- The off the charts ridiculous stage had the group reduced to about 10 people around 2:00 AM, and kicked off with keg stands and jello shots in the kitchen. Somehow, inexplicably, this turned into (attempted) keg stands and jello shots in the pool. Let me say that again. Keg stands and jello shots IN THE POOL.
- It was about 3:30 by the time we finally left. Somehow, at 3:30 in the morning I hit every single red light on the way home. Furthermore, the only cars I saw the entire way home were police cars.
Thank you to everyone that made last night possible, especially everyone who helped set up, pick up beer, ice and water, and to everyone who brought the delicious food (especially the meatballs). Extra special thanks go out to our friends who hosted the party in there new house that they have been living in for less then a week. Last Saturday we were helping them unload the Uhaul, and last night the house looked like they have been there for years.
All-in-all, it was a 30th birthday party that M will never forget. More than anything, it was great being able to mark this landmark birthday with such great friends and family. And in case you are wondering, she is feeling every bit of 30 today. Although, I am sure tomorrow she will be back to feeling 25 again.

"Oh Melissa" is stuck in my head! Hope you enjoyed the keg stands and Jello Shots at 3AM, soon you will be trading that for bottles and diapers at 3AM!
