I was able to make a clean exit and surface in just enough time for another wave to crash on top of my head and carry my kayak about 20 yards away from me. The rest of the group quickly saw my empty kayak and begin a feverish rescue. They were able to get to me quickly but the wait felt like and eternity. Despite my PFD, I still struggled to keep my head above water as I waited and battled the continuous onslaught of waves.
Recently, I have been having flashbacks to that moment and felt very similarly (metaphorically speaking of course).
With school now in full swing, I am right in the middle of a stretch of three straight weeks with events lasting past eight o'clock every night. On top of that, we are beginning a restructuring plan as well. The good news is that I am part of the plan. The bad new is that more work is about to get thrown on my plate.
If that wasn't enough, there are a few other things going on as well...
- Braydon is a walking, running, climbing, eating, swimming and mess making machine.
- My parents were in town for the Labor Day weekend and had a great time with them.
- College football started last week (Go Irish! Beat Blue!)
- NFL Football (Pools) start this week. (Go Titans!)
- I lost an entire day Tuesday with testing at the hospital. No worries, everything is fine. At least I think it is. Honestly I was still coming off of the sedation when the doctor talked, so I'll have to check with Melissa.
- Has anybody seen my wife? Because I haven't
- Softball starts next week.
- I am training for an adventure race in October.
- We have trips to Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Crystal River and Daytona Beach all in the next 6 weeks.
But alas, there is hope. This weekend Melissa Braydon and I are crashing her parents Lake House while they are out of town. We will have plenty of time on the water to relax and refresh.
