Test Run

So we got to practice the whole rushing to the hospital thing today.

I got to work and it became very evident, very quickly that I was not doing well. I had uncontrollable chills, fever and extreme fatigue. So extreme that I couldn't hold myself up. I was in the process of getting a ride to the ER, but couldn't even make it to the parking lot. I ended up sprawled out on the cold floor of the main entrance to my office. Despite my objections, an ambulance was called and about an hour later I was being unloaded from the ambulance and welcomed by the best thing I could possibly think of; my wife.

She was all I could think on the ambulance ride and how scared she must have been driving to the hospital all alone and having no idea what was happening to me. The first thing I said when I saw her was "Sorry." The worst thing about this whole thing is knowing how much pain she has to go through.

Anyway, the numbers I was putting out supported how horrible I was feeling.

Temperature-103.5
Blood Pressure - 74 over 44
Resting Heart rate - 125

A quick and aggressive treatment with IV antibiotics and the placement of a central line quickly brought all those numbers back within normal range. I am in ICU now where I will probably spend the night.
