Yunke ZipLines
What started as a day with no definitive plans, turned into another day of adventure that will not soon be forgotten. We were hoping to do a zip lone tour, but were not sure if we would be able to find a company on such short notice. We ended up finding a brand new tour company that just opened a zip line course in the foothills of El Yunque Peak.
After grabbing a quick lunch at the beach side bar, we began our trip to the zipline tour. There were some doubts even as we were following the directions that were given to us over the phone (follow the road past more or less 3 stop lights, drive by a church and a school, and park by the basketball court next to a house with a metal roof). Surprisingly enough, we found the basketball court, and were soon suited up with the proper safety equipment and on our way. And yes, Munkle made the trip as well.
The course consisted of 7 zip lines and 3 rappels from the tree platforms. The zip lines varied in length, speed, and height. Undoubtedly however, they did save the best for last. The grand finale was a 900 foot long zip that lasted nearly 30 seconds. The zip carried us over a banana and plantain crop, with the cloud covered peak of El Yunque to our right.
The staff that took us through the course were all very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the forest and Puerto Rico. We managed to not only have an unforgettable time, but even picked up a few facts about Puerto Rico that we didn't know.
Today has added to an overall memorable trip that will be hard to match any time soon. The best part is, we still have another full day left.
Some more photos from today.
