Shell Island Camping Trip

This picture gives a pretty good depiction of our trip to Shell Island this weekend. To the left you can see two dolphins playing in the water just as the sun is setting. There were plenty of images equally as calming and relaxing as this one that were not captured.

All of us sitting on the beach and enjoying the beautiful Florida weather almost as much as the company. The sight of dinner for 15 being cooked on a small two burner stove with only a headlamp for light. A half circle of chairs surrounding the campfire, while Jimmy Buffett music plays softly in the background. The s'mores supplies being passed around and trying to catch the marshmallow before it falls of the stick.

Up to the point that we went to bed, it was a really great trip. All I will say about the remainder of the trip is that sleeping was rough. Air mattresses either had to much air and were too bouncy, or no air at all thanks to a very large whole, that half a roll of duct tape could not patch. These plus other factors made for a very, very long night. Thank goodness for some strong coffee in the morning.

Despite the rough night, it was a really good trip. How could it not be when you go to sleep with dolphins playing in the water 30 feet from you tent, and wake up to a beautiful sunrise.
