It has been 12 days since we have had to face real life, so I will try to delay it a little longer.
On our first day in Maui, we spent a lot of time driving around, and while doing so, the landscape reminded us of a lot of places we have been before. The mountains with the clouds descending over them reminded us of Puerto Rico. Some of the winding roads reminded us of St Thomas and St John. The blue water was reminiscent of the Bahamas. But soon, Hawaii began to show it original side.
The sunrise on the top of Haleakala was beyond breathtaking. The waterfalls seemed to spring out of the side of mountains around every corner. The endless coastlines that stretched along the Pacific seemed to go on forever.
And all of this just on the first day.
The remainder of our time on the islands would only continue to exceed any expectations we had. Prior to our arrival, we had already discussed returning in two years, but the longer we stayed, the shorter that timeline got. Regardless, of when, Hawaii will be a returned destination sooner rather then later.
